Towards 2025 - collaborate, connect, connect

With eyes on the future, members converged on Tauranga for Conference 2014.

Martin Snedden opened proceedings with an inspirational talk about achieving the impossible - an insight into the collaboration and commitment required to dfleiver the highly successful Rugby World Cup in New Zealand in 2011. The Australian contingent informed us about what's happening over the ditch, offering valuable insights into how to improve business practices and increase profitability. We also heard from KVH about the importance of GIA and had a series of inspirational short talks form members and leading New Zealand businesses who shared their success stories.

The Board presented their vision for Towards 2025 and members talked about their vision and why they support the initiative. The consensus of opinion was the Towards 2025 was the best way forward. It was noted that it won't be easy but the potential benefit of doubling the value of greenlife makes this well worth while pursing. Rigorous discussion ensued and people left feeling optimistic, which was summarised in a motion of support for the Towards 2025 package.

We are delighted to congratulate Jacqui Jones of Evandale Gardens on taking out the NGINZ HortFert Plus Young Achiever Award for 2014. She faced stiff competition from Amy Redmond of Wairere Nursery and Hamish McLean of Grower Technology. Hopefully Jacqui will repeat the feat of Kelly Jean Kerr and go on to take out the Young Horticulturist of the Year Award.
